New anti-piracy technology on board of cargo ships

Anti-piracy ships technology   A range of new and more modern anti-piracy systems will be launched. Applied Satellite Engineering (ASE) introduced the new, highly improved version of their “citadel” safe room, which is available for cargo ships with remote polling technology. The usage of Iridium network, allows for the crew to send the coordinates of the ship to the rescue center and to the ship’s office. Also even if the communications are disabled by the pirates, the system will provide through satellite the coordinates of the ship to the office, who can transfer them to the rescue forces.

Also the remote polling feature can be configured to send information about time and coordinates of certain intervals, so the ship’s office will be aware for the any movement of the vessel. The feature is useful and can transmit data even if the crew decided to turn off the Automatic Identification System (AIS), which is action used when sailing in dangerous waters and directions. The new anti-piracy ASE’s features are integrated into the safe room communications system, which uses Iridium network about communications and GPS positioning.

Together with this feature from Beam Communications, introduced their new new anti-piracy products, such as PotsDOCK Extreme Covert Piracy Solution, which utilises the Iridium Extreme satellite handset into the safe room or citadel on board of the cargo ship. This system gives access to the GPS positions, tracking, alert functionality and voice communications. The information is sending information to the citadel or safe room, from where to be transfered to ship’s office and rescue forces.

During the last years the technology on board of the cargo ships, related to the anti-piracy is taking important role, due to the large number of piracy attacks and hijacked ships.
