Bulk Carrier ran aground near Tunisia

Flash Bulk Carrier   The Capesize bulk carrier Flash ran aground in a mud bank near Galite Islands in Tunisia. The cargo vessel was operating on route from Baltimore to Taranto, carrying 126,000 tons of coal. The ship Flash got damage in the hull, as some of the ballast tanks are completely damaged, as the plate of the engine room is crackled too. During the accident there are no injuries and pollution, but however the coast guard is informed about the accident. The salvage operation will be started in the next hours, because some of the cargo and fuel should be discharged from the ship.

   The Capesize bulk carrier Flash is large and really modern ship. The vessel was built in 2009 by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding in their shipyard in Shanghai, China. The bulk carrier has length of 292.00 meters, beam of 45.00 meters and draft of 11.00 meters. The deadweight of the ship is 177,996 DWT and the gross tonnage is 91,373 GRT. The ship Flash is operating under the flag of Malta and owned by the Turkish company Genel Denizcilik.
