Singapore Car Carrier lost power 2 miles off Kea island in Greece

City of Mumbai Car carrier   The car carrier City of Mumbai got engine blackout and full engine failure on 2.2 nautical miles off the Kea island, near Piraeus, Greece. The cargo ship was headed to Sagunto, when major problem in the engine system appeared and the ship started drifting close to the Greek shores. The distress signal was sent to the port authority, and from the coast guard planned to send tug to the accident position. Meanwhile the engineers on board of the car carrier City of Mumbai fixed the problem and the rescue operation was canceled. However, the ship was anchored in the port Lavrion for checking the problem with the engine. After completely solving the problem with the engine of the car carrier, the ship left the anchorage and resumed voyages.

   The car carrier City of Mumbai has length of 157.00 meters, beam of 27.00 meters and draft of 7.00 meters. The ship has deadweight of 7,894 DWT and gross tonnage of 27,887 GRT. The ship was built in 1987 and operates under the flag of Singapore and managed by Moller Singarope AP PTE Ltd.
