Passenger ship sank in Philippines

Josille II ship   The old wooden passenger ship Josille II with 59 people on board sank off Pagawanin Island, Philippines. The ship was sailing in bad weather and heavy sea, when a storm was approaching from the southwest and made the situation even worse. The passengers ship Josille II ignored the warnings from the coast guest and meteo-journals and passed through the dangerous area. The large waves and heavy wind broke the hull of the ship and caused large heel and the ship’s stability was highly reduced. The ship sank very fast and all the people gone on water. The rescue boats and nearby sailing ships arrived quickly to the position of the accident and 54 people were saved with minor injuries. However, the bodies of 5 people were taken from the water later dead.

   The wooden passenger ship Josille II has gross tonnage of 95.96 GRT. The local authorities are investigating the accident and most probably indictment will be helpd to the master of the wooden passenger ship, because of ignoring the warning of the coast guard and passing through dangerous region.
