Ferry Sykkylvsfjord collided with pier in Norway

Sykkylvsfjord   The ferry Sykkylvsfjord collided into a pier in Stranda, Norway during maneuvering into the port. The vessel was on route from Liabygda to Stranda and has maneuvers for berthing into the pier, but because of the high speed allided with the pier and made sufficient damages of the harbor. After the collision the ferry god damages in the hull and the front ramp. According to the master evidences the accident was caused by the malfunction in the propeller and highly disturbed ability to maneuver in the port. The ferry Sykkylvsfjord got serious damages, which caused docking of the ship for repair and full inspections before backing to service. The port authorities investigated the accident and most probably will fine the vessel for the crashed pier. There are no injured people during the accident and no damaged cars, but only the bow ramp was able to open for discharging the cars from the vessel.

   The ferry Sykkylvsfjord (IMO: 7405924) has length of 64.00 m, beam of 11.00 m and draft of 3.50 m. The gross tonnage of the vessel is 765 GRT. The ship is owned and operated by the Norwegian company Fjord1 Group.
