   Today was held the naming ceremony to one of the largest container ships of the world - Hamburg Express. The cargo vessel has capacity for 13,169 TEU and will be operated by the German company Hapag Lloyd. The vessel was built by the shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries in their shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea. The container ship is really created according to the latest standards, using the most modern equipment and technology inside. Hamburg Express has overall length of 366.00 m, moulded beam of 48.00 m, height of 66.00 m and maximum draft of 15.50 m. The deadweight of the container ship is 127,170 DWT, the gross tonnage is 142,295 GRT and the net tonnage is 60,481 NT. Second container ship of Bulgarian shipwoner Seaborne Trade was arrested

   The container ship "Sv. Georgy" (ex "Varna 5") was arrested in Istanbul, Turkey for unpaid expenses for fuel and supplies by the previous charterer. All the crew members were taken to the police station in Istanbul for interrogation, while the ship was detained into the Turkish port before clearing the situation. The official press release of the shipowner explained that the problem with the container ship "Sv. Georgy" is because of unpaid expenses of the previous charterer of the vessel and there is no connection with their operations. The container vessel is operated by the scandalous Bulgarian shipowner Seaborne Trade, which also owns the grievously known "Sv. Nikolay", arrested with 2.7 tones of cocaine on board in Cadiz, Spain a few days ago. The company was investigated for drug traffic from Latin America to Europe and connections with organized criminal groups. The container ship Northern Trust was sold to Chinese shipowner

   The container ship Northern Trust was sold to new Chinese shipowner at the price of 6.0 million USD. The cargo ship was part from the fleet of the German company Schluter Karl Reederei, which had serious plans for renovation and improvement of the fleet, making it more flexible and profitable. The new owners of the vessel is a Chinese company, which name is still not announced. The vessel has capacity for 3,300 TEU and good condition, which will allow it to enter in service after the delivery. The container ship Northern Trust was built in 1993 by Hyundai Heavy Industries in their shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea. The ship is operating under the flag of Liberia and registered in Germanischer Lloyd. The vessel was previously owned by CMA CGM and Cosco, but a few years ago was sold to the German company Schluter Karl Reederei. Th previous names of the ship were Cosco Bremerhaven, Cosco Norfolk, Choyang Phoenix and Ville De Lyra.

Conti Seattle was sold to Greek shipowner

   The container ship Conti Seattle was sold to Greek Shipowners at price of 5.2 million USD. The cargo ship was owned by Conti Navigare Schiffahrts GmbH & Co and managed by NSB Niederelbe Schiffahrtsgesellschaft mbH & Co. The sale of he container ship will highly support the financial situaion and willsolve some of the debt poblems of the German shpowner. The company announced some of the ship for sale, as part for lage renovation of the fleet and offering more flexible fleet. Definitely such sale will support the financial situation of the German company, which is highly pressed by the investors, banks and shareholders. The sale of container ship Conti Seattle was brokered by the Greek company Alemar Shipping Ltd, but the new owner is not announced in pulicity. The vessel has a few previous names - Delmas Libreville, Tiger Bay, Apl Melbourne, Vancouver, Ivory Star 1, Ccni Antartico and Sea Lynx.

Fire on board of container ship Jupiter off San Diego

   Fire started on board of the container ship Jupiter 30 nautical miles off San Diego, USA. The cargo ship was operating on route to Mazatlan, Mexico, when a fire started in the engine room. The crew on board started firefighting with all the facilities on board. During the accident one of the crew members was seriously burned and needed medical intervention. The fire was extinguished with the ship's firefighting equipment, but the condition of the seamen got worse. The officers sent a distress signal and requested assistance from the coast guard. A helicopter arrived at the scene of the accident and carried the seaman to the hospital for further treatment. The container ship reported that there are no other injured people on board during fire extinguishing and continued the voyage to Mexico with 2,400 TEU on board.

MSC Flaminia is drifing on 100 nautical miles off UK

   The container ship MSC Flaminia, which caught fire on board in the mid Atlantic is now drifting on 100 nautical miles off the UK coast. The ship still has no permission to enter into the sheltered area of the UK. Various teams of firefighting experts boarded the vessel to check if still there is any hotspots on board, as MSC Flaminia will nave no approval for getting close to the shore before the fire is fully extinguished. According to the report of the experts, there is no fire into the cargo holds 4 and 5, but still inside the containers there is thick smoke and some of them are still burning. The containers should be inspected one by one, before all the hotspots are extinguished and the safety of the ship is ensured. Samsung Heavy Industries launched Ever Lambent

   Samsung Heavy Industries delivered the large container ship Ever Lambent to Evergreen Marine Coorperation. The vessel was christened by chairman Chang Yung-fa and has maximum capacity for 9,200 TEU. Definitely this is the first and largest container vessel of the company, which operates mostly in Asia.
