General Cargo ship sank off Kerala, India

Ship   The Indian cargo ship MSV Arul Seeli sank off the Beypore port in Kerala. The accident happened 21 nautical miles off the port. The general cargo ship was loaded into the port with 150 tons of different types of cargo, such as sand, bricks and even cows. Most probably the ship sank after cargo shift due to the bad weather in the region. On board of the cargo vessel were 8 seamen and 5 of them are still missing. The fishing boats in the scene of the accident saved three lives, but the other 5 seamen were not found. The rescued people were transported into the local hospital with slight injuries. The local authorities started search and rescue operation for the other 5 people, but still have no information for any success. The investigation for the reason of the accident will be performed by the port authorities.

ST Wind cargo ship got engine failure in Japan Sea

ST Wind vessel   The general cargo ship ST Wind, which is operating under Russian flag, is disabled with engine failure on 50 nautical miles off Olga Port in Russia. The general cargo ship was on route from Tokyo to Vanino port, when a technical malfunction in some of the aggregates caused shortage and broke the main engine. This caused the disability of the cargo ship ST Wind and drifting without control towards coastline. There is no direct danger for the ship, accoridng to the coast guard station, as the harbor tug will arrive at the scene of the accident in a few hours. The ship will be towed to Olga port, where will be repaired and inspected.

General cargo ship Hao Han on fire in Japan

Hao Han ship   Hao Han ship caught fire in Osaka Bay on 7 nautical miles off Izumiotsu City, Japan. The vessel was on route from Japan to China, loaded with 1000 tones of scrap, when a fire started in the engine room. The crew was not able to get control of the fire and requested assistance from from coast guard station. All the crew from the cargo vessel Hao Han were rescued from the ship, without any serious injuries. Two tugs from the local coast guard station are engaged with firefighting and according to the latest news the fire is under control and must be fully extinguished in a few hours. The local authorities started investigation over the accident, but most probably it was caused by technical malfunction in the engine.

General cargo ship Everton caught fire in Mozambique Strait

Everton cargo ship   Technical malfunction in the cooling system of the generator, caused fire in the engine room of the general cargo ship Everton. The accident happened in Mozambique Strait during operations on route from Pemba to Mitsamudu. The crew was not able to get control of the fire with the ship’s safety equipment and sent a distress signal to the coast guard. Three tugs from the local harbor arrived at the scene of the accident and started firefighting and towing operations, to take out the ship from the heavy maritime road. All 16 crew members on board were evacuated and the ship was left drifting before the fire is fully extinguished. The local authorities are monitoring the general cargo ship Everton and heading the salvage operations. There are no injured people during the accident and no pollution of the water.

Muezzinoglu ship is drifting on 12 nautical miles off Las Palmas

Muezzinoglu ship   The general cargo ship Muezzinoglu is drifting on 12 nautical miles off Las Palmas, Spain as the local port authorities refuse to allow berthing of the ship for not having agent. The owner of the vessel bankrupted a few months ago and most of the crew members left the ship during docking in Angola, returning to their countries. The master of the general cargo ship decided to take the ship to the closes European port without any provisions, but after about 1 week voyage, the ship was refused to enter into Las Palmas port. The ship is out of provisions and almost all fuel is consumed, but without any company and any agents the Spanish authorities will not allow the ship to enter into the berth. The crew on board contacted the Turkish Foreign Ministry, as the ship is operating under their flag, but still have no support.

General Cargo ship Lona ran aground in Sweden

Lona cargo ship   The general cargo ship Lona hit a mud bank and ran aground in Tor Harbour, Sweden. The vessel was operating under ballast from Sweden to Denmark, when during a maneuvering to leave the Tor Harbour was pushed by strong winds, which took the vessel into shallow place. The bottom of the shallow area was mud, so it caused no serious damages of the hull and with the support of harbor tug the general cargo ship Lona was refloated. The port authorities requested inspection of the vessel and ensured that its stability and strength of the hull allow continue off the voyage. Now the general cargo ship continued its voyage to Randers, Denmark.

General cargo ship Maria S caught fire in Rotterdam

Maria S   Fire started in the engine room of the general cargo ship Maria S. The accident happened while the vessel was berthed in the port of Rotterdam, Netherlands. The fire started in the engine room due to technical malfunction in one of the diesel generators. The firefighters from the shore supported the crew and the fire was under control after about 1 hour. There are no injured people during the firefighting, but the damages of the ship’s engine room were sufficient and the general cargo ship Maria S should stay for repair and inspection. The local authorities started investigations about the reason of the accident.

New Lucky 3   The general cargo ship New Lucky 3 got dangerous list to starboard during operations to China on 35 nautical miles off Bali, Taiwan. The accident happened in bad weather and large waves, which most probably caused cargo shifting in the holds. The officers of the cargo ship sent a distress signal to the Taiwan Coast Guard and rescue operation was organized. On the scene of the accident arrived a helicopter and rescue ship, which took 16 crew members. During the rescue operations, the master of the cargo ship New Lucky 3 fell over board and went missing. All other crew members were taken to the shore without any serious injuries. The search and rescue operations for the missing captain are still in progress, but the bad weather highly disturb them. The general cargo ship New Lucky 3 is drifting without control and heavy list to starboard and causes danger for the nearby vessels.

Cargo ship was detained in Philippines

Minh Tuan 68 cargo   The general cargo ship Minh Tuan 68 was arrested in Philippines, because of carrying of undocumented cargo of rice. The vessel was anchored in the area a few miles off Legazpi port in Albay province, waiting to enter into the harbor, when port state control arrived and started inspection on board. The inspectors found a few safety violations and missing documents for the cargo on board. The ship Minh Tuan 68 was detained in the anchorage before full investigation of the problem. The general cargo ship was on route from Vietnam to Legazpi City, when compliant against the vessel was deposed in the Philippine’s Bureau of Customs. On board of the ship there were 1,800 tons of rice, documents for which were not found. If the master in not able to present the documents for the cargo, all the rice will be seized and the ship operator will be fined. The local authorities started investigation over the case and about the traffic of undeclared cargo from Vietnam to Philippines.
