Tanker ran aground in Svir River

Volgoneft-162   The inland tanker Volgoneft-162 (IMO: 8867131) ran aground in the Svir River, north-east of St. Petersburg, Russia. The tanker was making a voyage between Kashper and St. Petersburg, carrying 4433 tons of heavy oil. Damage into the propulsion system and the steering gear changed the course and the ship has diverged from the navigation channel and ran aground into the mud bank. The tanker Volgoneft-162 got damage in the bow, near the bow thruster. There is no information for injuries and pollution of the water after the accident. On the position there are coast guard tankers and rescue boats.

   The tanker Volgoneft-162 has length of 132.00 meters, beam of 17.00 meters and maximum draft of 3.40 meters. The deadweight of the vessel is 4190 DWT, the gross tonnage is 3463 GRT. Volgoneft-162 was built in 1982 in Russia and passed the latest SS inspection in 2010. The ship is carrying heavy oil and fuel on routes of Svir River in most of the operation time.
