The chemical tanker Fjordstraum (ex Bow Bahia) made pollution, when washing tanks on route between Antwerp and Rotterdam. The market of the cargo ship was fined with 40,000 EUR for the incident and the ship was released to continue its voyage. The vessel Fjordstraum left Antwerp, when made a one day tank cleaning voyage in Atlantic ocean, before getting back in Rotterdam. Unfortunately the voyage was not enough long, and the crew was not ready with the tanks, so the ship discharged residues near the shores of Denmark. This was spotted by Belgian Coast Guard plane and the information was transfered to Dutch authorities. After arriving in the port of Rotterdam the ship was arrested and the master was fined for the caused water pollution. The chemical tanker was released and the cargo operations continued, after the fine was paid by the ship.
The chemical tanker Fjordstraum (IMO: 9114763) was built in 1996 in the shipyard of Envc Viana Do Castelo in Portugal. The ship was operating for the fleet of Ahrenkiel GmbH long time, but after the joint venture with Odfjel was canceled, all of their cargo ships were sold. Now the vessel Fjordstraum is owned and managed by Utkilen – Bergen, Norway. The chemical tanker has length of 100.00 meters, beam of 16.00 meters and depth of 6.80 meters. The cargo ship has summer deadweight of 5,846 DWT and gross tonnage of 3,726 GRT.
