Iran may start taxing the cargo ships passing the Strait of Hormuz. This news were announced by the official government authorities, and considered by Iranian lawmakers. According to the official communique, the Government Secretariat announced that, the tankers and other vessel, which enter and ext of the Persian Gulf should pay a tax for the environmental damage, which they are causing to the eco-system. The hard measures might be applied to the maritime in the region in the next few months, but the decision is still not approved by the Iran Government and there are no details over the draft bill. Another idea of the Iranian lawmakers is the traffic through the Strait of Hormuz to be restricted at all. of course such idea will not be accepted by the neighbor countries of Iran, as this will seriously hurt their crude oil export. The decisions and the future negotiations over the new measures, which will be taken will be voted after the summer vacation of the Iran parliament.
