Barge ran aground in Danube river and blocked fairway of Regensburg

Sinn barge   The Danube river was temporary blocked, as the cargo self-propelled barge Sinn, ran aground on near Regensburg, Germany. The vessel was on route from Deggendorf to Passau, loaded with 613 tons of soy, when due to navigation mistake the pilot hit the left shore and the ship’s bow stuck into the mud bank. From the speed the vessel Sinn gone perpendicular to the fairway, closing the route of the river. The stern also got aground into the right shore and the pilot was not able to re-float it in anyway. The operations around the accident were disturbed for more than 2 hours, before the harbor tugs arrive and re-float the cargo barge. The ship moved to the Muhlhamer Loop by own engine and was anchored there for inspection. After that the barge will continue its voyage to the destination point.

The barge Sinn is operated by the company Reederei Gebr Vath and was built in 1965 into the shipyard Elfring. The barge has length 105.00 m, beam of 9.50 m and deadweight of 1,935 DWT. The barge is driven by engine MWM 800 pk.
