The Russian ship Chariot was arrested in Greece

Chariot ship   The cargo ship Chariot, which is operating for the Russian company Westberg, was arrested in Greece. The ship was on regular documents check 5.8 nautical miles off Zakynthos port, when the Coast Guard decided to check the cargo type and found ammunitions and arms, which were not declared. The cargo ship Chariot was accused for traffic of arms to Bar, Montenegro. According to the authorities of the Greek port, the ship was used for traffic of ammunitions to the Balkan country through Greece. The crew and the master of the ship were also arrested and during the rummage many more undeclared goods were found, such as cigarettes and alcohol.

   The cargo ship Chariot is the same vessel, which was accused for traffic of arms to Syria a month ago. Then, the ship lost its insurance and was not able to make the delivery of the cargo to the restive country.

   The ship Chariot is general cargo ship, which has length of 56.00 m, beam of 10.00 m and maximum summer draft of 3.60 m. The ship has summer deadweight of 922 DWT and gross tonnage of 845 GRT. The vessel Chariot was built in 1984 in the shipyard of Bogense Skibsvaerft in Denmark. The cargo ship is operated and managed by the Russian company Westberg.
