Evacuation in the Gulf of Mexico, because of the hurricane Debi

Crude oil platform   A strong storm and hurricane, called “Debi”, will pass through the Gulf of Mexico. The heavy storm will hit with strongest power the region, which has a lot of oil platforms. Till that moment 13 platforms are fully evacuated, because of the coming hurricane. The volumes of the crude oil extraction in the region decreased with 7.8%, while the natural gas volumes decreased with 8.16%. The bitted experience, which the crude oil companies had in this region, with the sinking of BP platform, increased the requirements over their job and made the fines and restrictions higher.

The hurricane “Debi” has really high power and will hit the Gulf of Mexico and the eastern coast of USA. The crude oil and gas companies and nearby ports held full or partial evacuation of their staff. This is definitely not the first evacuation of the platform, but it looks to be quite massive. All the vessels are secured and the work is stopped.

In the Gulf of Mexico is extracted about 29% of US crude oil and 12% of the natural gas of the country.
