Cargo ship sank in Demerara River

Miss Ellisa ship sank   The general cargo ship Miss Ellisa sank in Demerara River, Guyana. The ship was loaded with a cargo of coconuts, rice and poles in Georgetown, Guyana and headed to Trinidad and Tobago, when after a board wave the cargo shifted and ship got large heel. The crew on board tried to turn the ship back to the harbor, but the heel increased and the ship capsized and sank in the river. Six from the all Seven crew members on board were saved, but the ship’s cook is still missing. The salvage operation continue and in the position of the accident there are two boats and divers, who are looking for the missing seaman. The main reason for such tragic accident was the despiseth cargo operations and bad cargo stowage. The local authorities are still investigation the incident and do not give more details.

   The cargo ship Miss Ellisa has deadweight of 713.00 m.t. and gross tonnage of 485 g.t. The ship has length of 53.00 m and beam of 8.00 m. The ship was operating between South America and Africa.
