MS Viking Grace was float-out in Finland

MS Viking Grace   The new super-modern ferry MS Viking Grace was launched by STX Turku Shipyard and float-out on special ceremony in the Finland. the owner of the vessel is Viking Line and the final delivery is expected to be done in the beginning 2013. The ferry is highly environmental and modern, implementing the technology from new generation. The ship was float-out on special ceremony, which was witnessed by representatives of STX Shipyard, Viking Line, the classification society Lloyd’s Register and also other guests and journalists. the new ferry will be fueled by LNG (liquefied natural gas) and the CO2 emissions were almost eliminated. The large cruise ferry has also low fuel consumption and modern engineering, which introduces developments never used before. The ship was valued at price of 260 million USD and has really flexible design and strong engineering, which will open new generation is ferries building. The luxury ferry had capacity for 2,800 passengers, 1,000 lane meters for cars and 1,275 lane meters for ro-ro cargo. Such large capacity make the vessel flexible in operations and really profitable for the owners.

   The passenger cruise ferry MS Viking Grace has length of 218.00 m and beam of 31.80 m. The ship has ice class 1 A Super and will be driven by 4 Wartsila 8L50DF engine, which have total output power of 40,750 hp. The propulsion system will be provided by two shafts, fixed pitch propellers and the service speed will be 22.0 knots.
