Hyundai Mipo Dockyard won a profitable contract from the Norwegian company Odfjell for building of for chemical tankers with deadweight of 46,000 DWT. The ships will be constructed according to the latest marine engineering standards and will have 22 coated cargo tanks, available to carry large variety of cargoes. The ships is scheduled to be delivered in the first half of 2014. The vessel will be designed and built with new and modern engineering, low fuel consumption and latest environmental requirements. The chemical tankers will be part from the renovation of the fleet of the Norwegian company. Odfjell plans to replace the old chemical tankers, which service is quite more expensive and operate with lower profit. The old chemical tankers most probably will be sold and will continue operations for other chemical tanker operator.
The total price of the contract between Odfjell and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard is 160 million USD. Into the agreement there is option for ordering 4 more chemical tankers after the delivery in 2014 at the same price.
