Bulgarian cargo ship Seawind sank in Brazil

Seawind ship   The Bulgarian general cargo ship Seawind sank near the shores of Brazil. The cargo ship was on anchorage in front of port Fortaleza. On board of the cargo ship there were 13 seamen, 2 of which were Bulgarians. All the seamen were rescued and there are no reports for injuries. The information from master of the ship Nikolai Simeonov was that the ship started flooding from the starboard side on 27th June and for a few hours the water in engine room was over 20 cm. According to the master of the ship, they could not react because the water ingress was too fast.

   The ship Seawind became grievously famous with its arrest 11 months ago. The ship-owner was accused for debts of 560 thousand USD to Brazilian company. The vessel Seawind (IMO: 8609632) was built in 1986 in the shipyard of Cassens Werft in Emden, Germany. The ship has length of 1011.00 meters, beam of 14.00 meters and maximum summer draft of 4.50 meters. The gross tonnage of Seawind ship is 3,219 GRT and the deadweight is 3,936 GRT. The ship is owned and managed by the Bulgarian company Argo Maritime and operating under the flag of Panama.
