DNV GL: We have reached 100 LNG fueled ships

Congratulations LNG ship fuel industry! We have now passed the milestone of 100 confirmed LNG projects worldwide. Though still outnumbered by the number of conferences arranged to date on LNG as ship fuel, I think that this milestone is worth celebrating. We have witnessed a remarkable change of opinion in the industry during the last 2-3 years. DNV GL has actively advocated LNG as fuel since the start, and we are very happy to see that the industry has gone from polite interest to seriously considering LNG as a fuelling option for many newbuild projects. New anti-piracy technology on board of cargo ships

   A range of new and more modern anti-piracy systems will be launched. Applied Satellite Engineering (ASE) introduced the new, highly improved version of their "citadel" safe room, which is available for cargo ships with remote polling technology. The usage of Iridium network, allows for the crew to send the coordinates of the ship to the rescue center and to the ship's office. Also even if the communications are disabled by the pirates, the system will provide through satellite the coordinates of the ship to the office, who can transfer them to the rescue forces.
