Fishing ship sank in La Perouse Strait

   The fishing ship Argonavt with 8 seamen on board sank in La Perouse Strait between Russia and Japan. The ship suffered water ingress from the engine room, which quickly flooding the entire ship and the vessel lost stability. The ship Argonavt sank a few minutes after the accident and sank in La Perouse Strait. All the crew members were rescued by Cambodia-flagged cargo ship, which was in vicinity. The weather was good and there were no storm in the region, during the accident, so most probably the accident was caused by human mistake.

Container Ship ran aground in Chile

   The container ship Condor ran aground near Chile, while operating with cargo of 698 TEU on route to Punta Arenas. The cargo ship was underway in the canals of Chile, when due to navigation error hit a shallow and the ship ran aground. The ship has various damages of the hull, but not serious. The salvage operations were planed for today, but the ship should be discharged from a few containers and fuel, before towed back on water. There are no pollution and injured crew members during the accident, but the Chile Coast Guard will start investigation about it and most probably the master of container ship Condor will be fined.

Bulk Carrier ran aground near Tunisia

   The Capesize bulk carrier Flash ran aground in a mud bank near Galite Islands in Tunisia. The cargo vessel was operating on route from Baltimore to Taranto, carrying 126,000 tons of coal. The ship Flash got damage in the hull, as some of the ballast tanks are completely damaged, as the plate of the engine room is crackled too. During the accident there are no injuries and pollution, but however the coast guard is informed about the accident. The salvage operation will be started in the next hours, because some of the cargo and fuel should be discharged from the ship.

Hakki Cillioglu went ashore in Black Sea

   The cargo ship Hakki Cillioglu ran aground during a storm in Black Sea. The ship was moored into the port of Pitsunda, Abkhazia when strong winds broke the ropes and the ship went aground on the nearest beach. There are no damages over the hull of the cargo ship Hakki Cillioglu, and the freighter Apsini tried to pull is back to the sea, but failed after snapping of two ropes. There is no planned salvage operation for bringing the ship back at sea, as it is not clear if the shipowner has funds to pay about it. The cargo ship was staying into the port for several months, because the vessel suffered damage into the steering gear and needed to be repaired. Because of this fact the ship was left by many crew members. It is not clear what will be the future of the cargo ship Hakki Cillioglu and the shipowner still do not comment the accident.

Freighter with 100 immigrants ran agrount in Puerto Rico

   The The cargo ship Jireh ran aground in Puerto Rico after strucking a reef. The ship was on route to St Martin with 100 immigrants, when a navigation error caused damage of the hull and the ship ran aground on the Mona Island. Large part of the passengers and the crew left the vessel and stayed on the island waiting for Coast Guard to come to the scene of the accident. The ship has serious damages into the hull, but no injuries and pollution was reported.

   The distress signal was sent from the cargo ship was sent at 0650 on Thursday and the Coast Guard immidiately sent helicopter to the scene. The federal and state agencies were also notified for the accident and for the immigrants. All the local authorities are working together doe transfer of the passengers and crew on board to the closest port.

General Cargo ship and tug collided in Volga River

   The Russian general cargo ship Sv. Georgiy Pobedonosets loaded with steel hit a tug OT-2117 in Volga River. The cargo ship lost control due to failure in the steering gear and without any control struck a tug, which was pushing 4 barges. The accident happened near Samara on the 1743 kilometer mark on Volga River. After the collision the tug got hole in the engine room portside and was grounded by the crew to avoid sinking. The engine room of the tug flooded by water ingress, but fortunately there were no injured crew members. The repair of the tug should be done uderwater as the investigations of the incident will be done by the local authorities. The cargo ship Sv. Georgiy Pobedonosets got no damages and underway reached the Samara port, where will be arrested for investigation.
