B&E Uno ship sank in Philippines

   The general cargo ship B&E Uno ran aground in rocks and sank in the Mactan Channel in Philippines. The accident happened 200 meteres off shores of Lapu-Lapu City. The cargo ship was underway, when due to error of the navigation officer, hit shallow of rocks and god large hole in the hull. The vessel B&E Uno got water ingress and for a few minutes the engine room filled with water. The crew members on board were 18 and all were saved, as the weather in the region was not bad the most of them swam to the shore. The general cargo ship B&E Uno was loaded with cement bags and has diesel in the fuel tanks. Now there are no reports for water pollution in the region of accident. The mast of the general cargo ship still is visible over the water, but salvage operations are not organized, as the ship will disturb the voyages in the Mactan Channel, if no measures are taken.

Greek shipowner ordered ten 13,800 TEU container ships in Hyundai Heavy Industries

   Greek shipowner ordered ten 13,800 TEU container ships in the shipyard of Hyundai Heavy Industries at total price of 1.2 billion USD. The ships will be in the class of the largest container vessel, but according to the agreement will be designed with new engineering technology to have over 10% lower fuel consumption, compared with same size vessel. The name of the Greek ship-owner is not announced, but the ships will be chartered by Evergreen Marine and will be used for long distant voyages between Europe and Asia. The modern technology of the shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries will highly increase the speed and cargo capacity of the ship, which will make it more profitable and most environmental, according to the requirements of the Greek shipowner. The ten 13,800 TEU container ships will be delivered between the second half of 2013 and the second half of 2014.

Cargo ship ran aground in Scotland

   The cargo ship Coastal Isle went aground in rocks one nautical miles off Bute, Scotland. The ship was proceeding through the Great Crumbae, when due to navigation error of the duty officer, the ship struck rocks. The vessel Coastal Isle sent distress signal to the Clyde Coastguard about the accident. The coast guards monitored the situation of the vessel before arriving of the tugs. The ship has no serious damages of the hull, and was able to continue the voyage to Greenock, where will have full inspection. There are no injured seamen and no pollution in the vicinity of the accident. The cargo ship was operating fully loaded with cargo from Belfast to Greenock. The weather in the area was good, the sea was calm and only the low concentration of the duty officer caused this incident.

Livestock carrier Zein I caught fire in Tuzla

   Fire erupted in the engine room of the merchant ship Zein I, while being in dock for repair. The accident happened in Shiprepair Yard in Tuzla and the authorities reports for no injuried crew members of the vessel. The fire started from short circuit in the engine room and quickly enlarged to whole quarterdeck of the ship. The firefighters struggled with the fire more than 15 hours, before getting control over it and finally extinguished it. During the process of extinguishing the fire, participated tugs, rescue and fire boats and firefighters from the Shiprepair Yard in Tuzla. The livestock carrier Zein I suffered serious damages in the engine room, the superstructure and the aft cells, which will keep the vessel in port for longer than expected.

Bulgarian cargo ship Seawind sank in Brazil

   The Bulgarian general cargo ship Seawind sank near the shores of Brazil. The cargo ship was on anchorage in front of port Fortaleza. On board of the cargo ship there were 13 seamen, 2 of which were Bulgarians. All the seamen were rescued and there are no reports for injuries. The information from master of the ship Nikolai Simeonov was that the ship started flooding from the starboard side on 27th June and for a few hours the water in engine room was over 20 cm. According to the master of the ship, they could not react because the water ingress was too fast.

Pirates attacked the bulk carrier Namrun

   Pirates attacked the Turkish bulk carrier Namrun in Arabian Sea, on 110 miles north of Socotra. The ship was on route to Greece, while attacked by 7 pirates on board of a skiff. The pirates were heavily armored with RPG, grenades and machine guns, as even made a few shots to the cargo ship. The armed private guards on board of the bulk carrier Namrun returned the fire and contacted the Military Ships in the vicinity. The pirates move away after the returned shots, but the Dutch naval vessel HNLMS Evertsen offensed them and arrested all the pirates. There were no injured crew members of the Turkish cargo ship, but three of the pirates were killed during the arrest.

Samsung Heavy Industries delivered the oil tanker Stena Supreme

   A new Suezmax crude carrier was completed in Samsung Heavy Industries and delivered to the ship-owners Concordia Maritime. The ship was christened Stena Supreme and will be the largest vessel in the fleet of the ship-owner. The vessel was built according to the latest standards of the South Korean Shipyard and combines new technologies in the engineering, hull design and cargo holds. The ship was built with double hull and double sides technology, following the best practices of the Asian shipyard. The ship has length of 274.23 meters, beam of 48.00 meters and depth of 23.20 meters. Stena Supreme has length between perpendiculars of 264.00 meters and maximum summer draft of 16.00 meters. The vessel was built in 2009, as part from multi million project for renovation of the company's fleet. Container Ship ran aground in Chile

   The container ship Condor ran aground near Chile, while operating with cargo of 698 TEU on route to Punta Arenas. The cargo ship was underway in the canals of Chile, when due to navigation error hit a shallow and the ship ran aground. The ship has various damages of the hull, but not serious. The salvage operations were planed for today, but the ship should be discharged from a few containers and fuel, before towed back on water. There are no pollution and injured crew members during the accident, but the Chile Coast Guard will start investigation about it and most probably the master of container ship Condor will be fined.
